Christmas in Chillicothe

If you’re looking for that iconic, small town Christmas with lights on the square and holiday magic in the air, look no further than downtown Chillicothe. We have numerous activities and events to help you make the season bright.

Memory Tree Dedication and Lighting Service
Each November, Main Street helps to memorialize loved ones in Silver Moon Plaza by placing their name in an ornament during the holiday season and reading their name off during a special service in November.
Special ornaments can be purchased from Main Street Chillicothe for $10 each or three for $25. This includes a card for the name of the person you are memorializing. The card will be placed inside the ornament and then the ornament will be hung on the tree for the entire holiday season. The evening includes music, a special message, and then each name will be read and a bell will ring in memory for each.

Kids Christmas
Children of any age are invited to the Livingston County Courthouse to shop from our local downtown merchants in one location. Everything sold through Kids Christmas is priced under $15 and includes free gift wrapping. Kids can even design their own holiday card to make the gift complete. Sleigh rides are also available around the beautiful downtown square. 


Downtown Lights
Downtown twinkles and delights throughout the holiday season thanks to thousands of tiny lights strung through the Historic Courthouse Square. You can also use the night to get a jump on holiday gifts by buying locally from downtown merchants who remain open for extended hours during the holiday season. 

Chillicothe Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Holiday Parade
Our annual holiday parade is full of surprises … including an early visit from you-know-who. With warming stations along the parade route, you can enjoy the evening with a toasty cup of coffee, hot cocoa or spiced cider and a yummy treat.
