Main Street Accreditation

In 2005, Main Street Chillicothe was designated an accredited National Main Street Program. The program was created by the National Trust for Historic Preservation to guide downtown redevelopment and enrich communities.

The Main Street Four-Point Approach® to Revitalization helps cities like Chillicothe develop a strategy for redevelopment that can be customized and localized. It centers on addressing four primary areas of concern:

  • Organization – engaging the community to secure support
  • Promotion – creating the right image and marketing downtown to customers and investors
  • Design – enhancing existing elements with improvements, displays and amenities
  • Economic Vitality – fundamentally changing the way downtown “works”

Main Street Chillicothe is a proud member of Missouri Main Street Connection. Our state-level partner provides direct support to enhance the economic, social, cultural and environmental well-being of historic downtown business districts across Missouri.
