New Trees Downtown
Do you like trees? Main Street Chillicothe recently planted three new trees. Armstrong Gold Maples were planted at 722 Washington Street, 710 Washington Street, and 611 Locust Street. The trees were purchased from Rosemary Hill in Trenton MO and Aaron's Lawn Care & Landscaping performed the installation.
Chillicothe locals and visitors enjoy the beauty of trees downtown every day. They provide shade in the heat and noise reduction from the busy 65 Hwy traffic for offices and upper story apartment dwellers. Urban trees can increase property values and attract businesses and shoppers to commercial areas. They contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of neighborhoods, making them more desirable places to live and work. Access to green spaces and exposure to nature have been associated with various health benefits, including lower stress levels, increased physical activity, fortified mood, and improved overall well-being. We ask our downtown trees to live in a less than ideal environment. They are limited in root space due to the restrictions of sidewalks and they are often stressed with inadequate natural water supply along with an extra dose of pollution residing so close to the streets. Main Street Chillicothe is committed to the overall beauty and vibrancy of our downtown district. For this reason, we will continue to care for our trees with regular maintenance, monitoring, and replacement when necessary. Go check out the new additions and welcome them to the neighborhood.
