Winter Décor Clean-Up Downtown

After a spectacular Christmas display of the downtown planters, the Main Street Chillicothe volunteer decorations crew, “The Main Makers” removed the Christmas greenery from the downtown planters and prepared them for spring. The Main Makers have been hard at work decorating the planters for several events, such as Boofest, the holiday season, and the Valentine Sweet Stroll. The beautification of downtown is a continuous community effort, and these volunteers are just a few of many dedicated to making the downtown area a welcoming and vibrant place.

Missouri Main Street Capitol Day

Missouri Main Street Connection Inc, (MMSC) hosted Main Street Capitol Day in Jefferson City on January 23, 2024. The annual event gathered Main Street communities from across the state to visit with legislators to highlight their efforts in downtown revitalization, economic development, and small business support which generates economic growth. Members of Main Street organizations throughout the state shared information and insight with the legislators about the impact Main Street has had on their communities. Main Street communities, guided by MMSC, help create strong, locally-based economies that also enhance the statewide economy as well. Utilizing these principles of preservation-based economic development, taught by Missouri Main Street Connection, it helps local Main Street organizations create sustainable, long term economic success for their communities.

Accredited Signage Program

Missouri Main Street Connection (MMSC) unveiled its Main Street Accredited signage program while in Jefferson City for Main Street Capitol Day. In a partnership with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) through its Community Awareness sign program, MMSC now provides current nationally and state accredited Main Street communities with two “Accredited Main Street Community” signs.

Wreaths Across America in Downtown Chillicothe

On December 16th, 2023, The Olive Prindle Chapter of The Daughters of the American Revolution participated in the nation-wide wreath laying event on the south side lawn of the Livingston County Courthouse. The DAR chapter members present were Darla Macoubrie, Mary Underwood, Ruth Ann Steele, and Hazel O'Connor-Hibner Wood. The wreath was placed on the Veterans Memorial by local LICOVA members.
