Winter Décor Clean-Up Downtown

After a spectacular Christmas display of the downtown planters, the Main Street Chillicothe volunteer decorations crew, “The Main Makers” removed the Christmas greenery from the downtown planters and prepared them for spring. The Main Makers have been hard at work decorating the planters for several events, such as Boofest, the holiday season, and the Valentine Sweet Stroll. The beautification of downtown is a continuous community effort, and these volunteers are just a few of many dedicated to making the downtown area a welcoming and vibrant place.

Volunteers Ericka Kroll, Chuck Erke, Nick Leakey, Nicole Jackson, and Andrea Leakey teamed up on February 21st, 2024, to remove the greenery and Christmas trees from the downtown planters. In addition, the holiday hanging baskets in the Kelly Poling Arts District were removed. Once the greenery was removed from the planters, each piece was cleaned to remove any dirt and debris, dried, and stored away for the next holiday season. A special thank you to the community members who generously donated a Christmas tree for the planters. Your donation played a significant role in beautifying the downtown planters for the holiday season. The Christmas trees will be reused for holiday decorating in the future.

To prepare the planters for spring, the volunteers smoothed out the dirt and cleaned up the edges of the planters. Beth Weidner, owner of Weeds Greenhouse & Gardens, has big plans for the planters for the spring. With her assistance, The Main Makers and our amazing community members, the downtown area can become a thriving and enjoyable place for locals and visitors.
