About Us

History of Main Street Chillicothe

Main Street Chillicothe was born from the visionary leadership of the Chillicothe Development Corporation in 2000. Recognizing the need to revitalize downtown as the heart of commerce and tourism, they laid the foundation for an organization dedicated to preserving our community’s heritage while promoting economic growth. This organization is governed by the Livingston County Community Development Corporation (LCCDC) board of directors. From this strong origin, we have flourished into a dynamic, volunteer-driven force focused on making downtown Chillicothe a vibrant hub of activity now and for generations to come.

With a deep commitment to historic preservation, small business support, and community education, our team, Board of Directors, and committees work hand-in-hand to ensure our downtown thrives. Through strategic marketing, communications, and one-on-one guidance for business owners and property stakeholders, we’ve brought tangible improvements to the area. As a designated DREAM community and accredited National and Missouri Main Street program, we’re proud of the impact we’ve made—and even more excited about the future we’re building together. We invite you to join us in continuing this legacy of revitalization and growth!
