Then and Now #26 - Crellin-Kline Building
๐The Crellin-Klien Building is located at 705 Webster Street ๐๏ธ. Although the construction date is unclear๐ฐ๏ธ, it is likely it was in a similar timeframe as its neighbor, the First National Bank Building #1 ๐ฆ. The property was purchased by William E. Crellin in 1879 ๐, and he owned the property until 1923 ๐. During much of that period the building was a jewelry store ๐, then a tailorโs shop ๐งต. It also served as the local hub for US Express around 1901 ๐ฆ, delivering packages around town ๐. Between then and the 1930s ๐ฐ๏ธ it was mostly a barber shop ๐ though the upstairs also had a few separate uses such as a dentist's office ๐ฆท. Since then, the building has seen a series of various different shops ๐๏ธ and even a restaurant ๐ฝ๏ธ more recently. Today the building is occupied by Grounded for Life ๐ฑ. The building itself shares a lot of the Italianate qualities ๐๏ธ of its neighbor, though it expresses those qualities a bit differently ๐จ. Floral detailing ๐ธ is visible on the second story around the window ๐ช and roofline ๐ , giving the building a little charm of its own โจ.
