Then and Now #26 - Crellin-Kline Building

๐Ÿ“The Crellin-Klien Building is located at 705 Webster Street ๐Ÿ›๏ธ. Although the construction date is unclear๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ, it is likely it was in a similar timeframe as its neighbor, the First National Bank Building #1 ๐Ÿฆ. The property was purchased by William E. Crellin in 1879 ๐Ÿ“œ, and he owned the property until 1923 ๐Ÿ“†. During much of that period the building was a jewelry store ๐Ÿ’, then a tailorโ€™s shop ๐Ÿงต. It also served as the local hub for US Express around 1901 ๐Ÿ“ฆ, delivering packages around town ๐Ÿšš. Between then and the 1930s ๐Ÿ•ฐ๏ธ it was mostly a barber shop ๐Ÿ’ˆ though the upstairs also had a few separate uses such as a dentist's office ๐Ÿฆท. Since then, the building has seen a series of various different shops ๐Ÿ›๏ธ and even a restaurant ๐Ÿฝ๏ธ more recently. Today the building is occupied by Grounded for Life ๐ŸŒฑ. The building itself shares a lot of the Italianate qualities ๐Ÿ›๏ธ of its neighbor, though it expresses those qualities a bit differently ๐ŸŽจ. Floral detailing ๐ŸŒธ is visible on the second story around the window ๐ŸชŸ and roofline ๐Ÿ , giving the building a little charm of its own โœจ.
