J.T Baysinger with Main Street Chillicothe

Last Updated 6/18/2025Posted in Downtown Spotlight

This week the spotlight is on J.T Baysinger, Main Street Chillicothe's historic preservation intern! He will be with us throughout the summer and has some amazing things planned for our historic downtown area!

 What inspires you?
J.T. is inspired by the meaningful impact historic preservation can have on a community. He has always had a strong interest in history, but what truly motivates him is the way preservation work can serve others. Whether it’s collecting stories and personal histories or protecting physical spaces like buildings and sites, he believes preserving these elements helps keep a community vibrant, unique, and alive. Being even a small part of that effort is something he finds truly special.

\What do you do for fun?
Day-to-day, J.T. enjoys reading and playing video games. When he has a longer break or vacation, he loves to travel—especially road trips that include stops at museums, historic sites, and national or state parks.

What emoji do you use most often?
His most-used emoji is the saluting face. It started as a simple way to acknowledge messages or let someone know he’s on it—and now it’s just his go-to.

Do you have any pets?
Yes! J.T. and his girlfriend adopted a cat from a shelter a little over a year ago. Her name is Jade, and she’s a very expressive gray and white American Shorthair. His family also has a small dog named Oreo, a Shih Tzu–Yorkie mix with possibly a bit of Poodle in the mix.
