CMS Cares Day Downtown

Last Updated 5/20/2025

CHILLICOTHE, MO — Main Street Chillicothe proudly participated in CMS Cares Day on Thursday, May 15, by hosting a group of 16 Chillicothe Middle School students and our very own CHS intern Zoey Warren for an afternoon of hands-on community service at Silver Moon Plaza.

CMS Cares Day is an annual tradition that connects students with the broader Chillicothe community through meaningful service projects. Organized by Chillicothe Middle School, the event encourages students to give back, learn the value of volunteerism, and develop a deeper appreciation for their hometown.

This year’s group of volunteers worked hard on seasonal cleanup and beautification efforts at Silver Moon Plaza—one of downtown’s most popular public spaces. In addition to weeding and preparing the plaza for summer events, the students also picked up trash around the downtown square, covering Washington and Locust Streets from Calhoun to Ann. Their efforts help keep the heart of our city clean and welcoming for both residents and visitors.

Their efforts not only enhanced the appearance of key community spaces but also supported Main Street’s broader mission of maintaining a vibrant, engaging, and attractive downtown district.

CMS Cares Day continues to be a powerful example of how student engagement and community partnerships can make a tangible difference. Main Street Chillicothe is grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Chillicothe Middle School and looks forward to continuing this tradition of service in the years to come.
