Then and Now #25 - First National Bank Building #1
π First National Bank Building #1, located at 703 Webster Street ποΈ, was originally constructed in the early 1880s ποΈ as a book π and jewelry π store, though later in the decade, the building underwent significant renovation π§ and became the First National Bank Building π¦. As noted earlier in this series with building #9, First National Bank moved down the street in 1907 π to what is now 701 Locust Streetπ. Following that, the building was used by the Chamber of Commerce around 1917 π’. For most of its history π°οΈ the building has been used as offices πΌ for a series of different businesses and professionals π. The American Legion used the space around 1940 π and today the building is used by the Birthright. The building itself is an impressive example of the Italianate style ποΈ on a commercial property π¬. Through facade grants π° from Mainstreet over the years π it has maintained much of its original charm.
