Kelly Poling Arts District Crosswalks

Last Updated 9/12/2024

Main-iacs on Main is an energetic youth volunteer group within the Main Street Chillicothe program, empowering students to actively shape the future of their community. These dedicated young leaders contribute their time and talents to support community events and downtown initiatives while taking the reins on at least one significant project each year. Through their work, they enhance Chillicothe and build a deep sense of pride and ownership in their hometown’s future.

The inaugural Main-iacs on Main group, launched in August 2023 and led by Main Street Chillicothe intern Ericka Kroll, a 2024 CHS graduate, has demonstrated remarkable dedication and creativity. Their first major project, the crosswalk repainting in the Kelly Poling Arts District, showcased their attention to detail and ability to navigate complex processes, from presenting to City Council for approval to recruiting volunteers. Their impressive teamwork and commitment have made a significant impact, and we are all proud of their achievements.

Their project is a testament to their passion for the arts and commitment to community improvement. The piano keys on the north end were painted on August 19th. Despite the extreme summer heat, the south end was completed on August 25th with a colorful paint brush honoring the district's namesake, mural artist Kelly Poling. With a few finishing touches planned for cooler weather, the project will soon be a vibrant celebration of the arts and the spirit of creativity in Chillicothe.

We invite the community to rally around these students, recognizing their efforts to make Chillicothe a more vibrant and inspiring place. Special thanks go to the City of Chillicothe, Kelly Poling Arts District, district businesses, and Cultural Corner Art Guild for their support and cooperation. Follow the Main-iacs on Facebook at Main Street Main-iacs or Instagram at @chilli_mainiacs to stay updated on their exciting journey. We are incredibly proud of this group and eagerly await their future projects.
