Kid's Christmas at the Courthouse
Main Street Chillicothe hosted their annual Kids Christmas at the Livingston County Courthouse in Chillicothe on Friday, December 6th from 4:00-6:00 pm. Approximately 60 kids turned out for shopping fun and Santa was able to join us as well.
At Kids Christmas children are invited to come and shop for Mom, Dad, Aunt, Teacher, or any other loved one on their list. There is always a diverse range of gifts available for purchase, catering to the interests and preferences of different family members. Parents and adults bring their kids with cash for purchases and typically wait at the north entrance of the Courthouse for them to finish. Helper elves are on hand to provide the little shoppers with friendly, patient, assistance in making thoughtful choices and answering any questions. This year we partnered with Chillicothe High School Key Club, National Honor Society, and Rotary Interact, along with our very own MSC MAIN-iacs youth volunteer group for “Helper Elves”. Downtown merchants set up miniature stores and provided specially priced gifts under $15 for purchase. This ensures that children can easily find items within their budget and makes the event inclusive for all families. Downtown businesses participating in 2024 were Country Corner Craft and Antique Mall, Beemer’s, Lauhoff Jewelry, The Charmed Nook, Family Affair Creation, Double T Mercantile, and Sensenich Jewelers.
Kids made their own complementary Christmas cards at the free card-making station. Free gift wrapping was provided by Beta Sigma Phi, Alpha Delta Rho Sorority. Kids left with gifts they picked out, paid for, and wrapped all on their own. It is a fun event and Main Street Chillicothe plans to keep this tradition alive for years to come.
