The Goonies at Silver Moon Plaza

Last Updated 5/20/2025

Chillicothe, MO – May 20, 2025 — Main Street Chillicothe and the Main-iacs on Main lit up Silver Moon Plaza on Thursday, May 15, with a free outdoor screening of the 1985 adventure classic The Goonies.

The event drew an enthusiastic crowd of community members, who filled the plaza with lawn chairs, blankets, and snacks. Families and friends gathered under the stars, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere in the heart of downtown.

Organized by the Main-iacs on Main—Main Street Chillicothe’s student volunteer group—the movie night showcased the group’s creativity and dedication to bringing positive, family-friendly events to the community. From planning, securing partnerships, setup and cleanup, the students helped every step of the way.

Main Street Chillicothe extends special thanks to Livingston County Library and Southern Bank for sponsoring the evening and supporting youth-led initiatives that strengthen downtown.

The event served as a fun and relaxing way to celebrate the end of the school year—and a reminder of the power of community, collaboration, and the charm of small-town life.
