Then and Now #10 - Livingston County Courthouse
๐The Livingston County Courthouse, located at 700 Webster Street, was constructed between 1913-14๐๏ธ. The building has many impressive classical details such as the large columns (pilasters) along each faรงade๐๏ธ. It was the fourth courthouse in the county and the second on that site. The first on this location was constructed in the 1840s and torn down by 1865๐ฐ๏ธ. Many buildings around downtown hosted court proceedingsโ๏ธ in the interim period between the demolition of the third courthouse and the construction of the current courthouse. The construction of the current courthouse faced significant pushback ๐ข from those that wanted to preserve the area the forested Elm Park๐ณthough it eventually went ahead, and the courthouse has stood on the site now for over 100 years๐.
