Then and Now #21 - Silver Moon Plaza
π 707 Webster Street, now the location of Silver Moon Plaza πβ¨, was originally constructed in approximately 1925 ποΈ on the site of a previous building π§±. Previous to that was an older building ποΈ that seems to have been there since the earliest available Sanborn maps πΊοΈ. The 1925 building was demolished after severe structural damage was uncovered during renovations π§, making way for the creation of Silver Moon Plaza to begin in 2008 π. It was constructed as part of the DREAM (Downtown Revitalization and Economic Assistance for Missouri) Initiative π‘. The DREAM Initiative brought more funding π° to downtown Chillicothe ποΈ by bringing together various state and regional development organizations π’π€ for downtown improvements π οΈ. Silver Moon Plaza revitalized what otherwise may have remained an empty lot π« in a prime area along the square π©. The site has brought measurable value π to the downtown district as an event space π.
