Remembering Brian Englert With Gratitude and Grief

Last Updated 6/25/2025

Main Street Chillicothe joins the community in mourning the loss of Brian Englert, a devoted leader, trusted colleague, and dear friend. Brian joined the Main Street Chillicothe team, volunteering on the Economic Vitality Committee, focusing on entrepreneur support, business recruitment and retention, and vacancy rates in the historic downtown district. He has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2018 and most recently served as Board President, where his steady leadership, insight, and optimism will leave a lasting impact.

Brian was more than a board member; he was an indispensable part of our Main Street family. With a deep background in banking and finance, he brought valuable expertise that helped guide our organization forward. Beyond his professional contributions, Brian brought humor, kindness, and a fresh perspective to everything he did. His open-mindedness and ability to truly listen fostered trust, encouraged growth, and made working alongside him a gift.

Brian was a longtime fixture at Investors Bank, but recently accepted the position of Community Bank President at Southern Bank. His commitment to the community extended well beyond his professional life. He served on numerous boards, including the Chillicothe Development Corporation, Livingston County Community Foundation, and the Hedrick Medical Center/St. Luke’s Health Systems Board and Grand River YMCA, among others.

Brian was an avid road and gravel cyclist, always training, competing, and embracing the challenge of the ride. He often rolled up to downtown Main Street events on his bike to check in and show his support. When he wasn’t on two wheels, you could find him out on his sailboat or enjoying live music at a concert. He was incredibly proud of his family and often bragged about his children, just as all dads should. No matter where he was, Brian brought energy, curiosity, and joy to every moment.

Brian will be remembered not only for his leadership and service but for his positivity, thoughtfulness, and ever-present smile. We are grateful for the time we had with him and the legacy he leaves behind.

He will be deeply missed by all of us at Main Street and throughout the Chillicothe community. Please join us in sending love and support to Brian’s family and friends during this difficult time.
