Kennasyn Johnson with Trends Hair Studio

Last Updated 7/16/2025Posted in Downtown Spotlight

What is your business and how did it get started?
Kennasyn is the co-owner of Trends, a brand-new hair salon in downtown Chillicothe that she opened with her best friend, Hannah. The two first worked together at another downtown salon, and after plenty of shared laughs and late-night brainstorms, they decided to make the leap and open a shop of their own. And just like that—Trends was born! 💇‍♀️✨

What’s the inspiration behind the name “Trends”?
After tossing around a few ideas (including Trendsetter), they landed on Trends because they both love keeping up with what’s new and fresh in the hair world. The name is short, catchy, and perfectly reflects their mission to stay ahead of the style curve. 💁‍♀️💬

Do you have any pets?
Yes! Kennasyn and her boyfriend have a little dog named Jake, who came into their lives through one of her clients. When the client had to move into a nursing home and couldn’t keep him, Kennasyn stepped in—and now Jake’s living his best life as a pampered pup. 🐾❤️

What’s your go-to music genre or favorite artist?
For Kennasyn, it’s all about girl pop. “The girls are killing it,” she says—and we are so here for it. 💅🎶 From empowering lyrics to irresistible beats, her playlist stays on point and keeps the salon vibes high.

What’s a current book you’re reading?
Kennasyn is a big fan of psychological thrillers, and her current read is One of Us Is Dead by Jeneva Rose—which, fittingly, is about a hairstylist. Suspense, scandal, and salon drama? She’s hooked. 📚🔪💇

Anything else we should know?
If you’re looking for a salon that’s stylish, welcoming, and always up-to-date on the latest hair trends, Trends is the place to be. Stop in, say hi to Kennasyn and Hannah, and leave feeling fabulous. 💖✂️
