Meet Kendall Whitmore, manager of The R Bar in downtown Chillicothe. He’s the guy who keeps things running smoothly, the conversations flowing, and the lights on a little later than most of us stay awake.
What is something you can’t live without at work?
Mountain Dew. With late nights and all kinds of people to deal with, Kendall says he needs something strong to keep him going. Forget coffee — this is a Mountain Dew-level kind of job.
What is one of your favorite customer quotes?
Kendall’s heard just about everything from behind the bar, but one quote that stuck with him is, “We’re all here because we’re not there.” It’s simple, a little mysterious, and somehow makes perfect sense.
What’s your go-to music genre?
Kendall calls it modern rock — think Papa Roach, Shinedown, and Five Finger Death Punch. It’s the kind of playlist that keeps the energy up and the mood right at The R Bar.
What do you do for fun?
“Fun” might not be the right word for it, but Kendall spends his free time working on his farm.
What’s on your farm?
Not your average barnyard. Kendall’s got blackbuck antelope, kangaroos, guineas, and peacocks. At one time, he even had zebras — but according to him, they have a serious attitude problem so WATCH OUT!
